Hi-Rib Panel Applications

Commercial Buildings

When installing Hi-Rib sheeting on commercial buildings, the first step is assessing the building structure and design. This will help determine what size and shape of metal you will need. Once the panels have been shipped, the installation process can begin. The panels are typically secured to the top of the wall framing with screws placed at regular intervals. Pay special attention to the flashing details at the eaves and other areas, such as vents and pipes, to ensure a watertight seal. Make sure to apply sealant after panel installation to prevent water from seeping in.

Agricultural Buildings

It’s essential to consider the type of agricultural buildings and their intended use when buying your Hi-Rib panels. Agricultural buildings such as barns and sheds require a similar installation method as commercial buildings. However, the design and structure of these buildings may affect the design, which may affect the installation process. For example, a dairy barn may require insulation to regulate the temperature, while a storage shed may not. Make sure to pay special attention to the ventilation and lighting of your building if you plan to use it as a home for livestock.

Residential Buildings

Applying Hi-Rib metal sheeting on residential buildings requires a slightly different approach than on commercial or agricultural buildings. Homeowners will consider the color and style of the metal panels to complement the home’s architectural style. Homeowners may add insulation or a vapor barrier to improve energy efficiency and prevent moisture buildup.

Industrial Buildings

Industrial buildings, such as factories and warehouses, require a more robust installation process to ensure the panels can withstand heavy loads and extreme weather conditions. Particular attention should be paid to the connection detail between the panels and the framing to ensure a secure and stable installation. Additional insulation may be required to regulate the indoor temperature.

Hi-Rib Panel FAQs

What Is Hi-Rib Metal Roofing?

High-rib metal roofing is a unique roofing solution with tall ribs. The taller ribs help direct rainwater and make the panel stronger. These ribs also help with snow accumulation, wind, and other extreme weather conditions. High-rib panels use exposed fasteners, allowing for a faster and cheaper installation process. We offer our High-rib panels in 26 gauge galvanized steel.

How To Install Hi-Rib Panels?

Hi-Rib metal roofing is easy to install. Prepare the roof deck, ensuring it is clean, dry, and properly aligned. First, install a drip edge along the edges of the roof. Lay down an underlayment, such as a roofing felt, to provide an additional moisture barrier. Next, align the first panel at the eave, ensuring it overhangs the edge appropriately. Attach it using screws or nails through the flat portions of the panel, securing it to the roof deck. Use screws with water-tight gaskets.

As you progress, overlap each panel with the previous one to ensure proper water shedding. Secure panels using screws or nails on the flat portions of the panel, taking care not to over-tighten to allow for thermal expansion. Trim panels as needed at the ridge, ensuring a neat fit, and seal panel seams with weather-resistant sealant to prevent water infiltration.

When installing the final panel, extend slightly beyond the roof edge. Install flashing along the eave and ridge to provide extra protection against leaks. Complete the installation by installing any necessary trim, like gable trim or ridge caps, to achieve a polished appearance.

Following manufacturer guidelines and local building codes is crucial throughout the installation process. Pay attention to safety measures, including proper footwear and fall protection, especially when working at heights. Properly installed Hi-Rib metal roofing offers an attractive aesthetic, lasting durability, and weather resistance for your structure.
